Extra help with Maths for KS1 and KS2, GCSE and A Level Mathematics for children

Does your child need extra maths help and tuition?

Are they falling behind at school, struggling with maths in general or in specific areas Knowledge of mathematics is also an intrinsic part of daily life. In today's world it is necessary for most occupations and further education courses to gain at least a “C” grade at GCSE Maths. At Kip McGrath we aim to pinpoint a student's areas of weakness and bring them to a level that enables success at the test. We can help your child improve their mathematical skills in line with the National Curriculum. For those students who are doing either foundation or the higher tier, a thorough grasp of topics covered in the curriculum is required to achieve their best grade and a knowledge of how these topics relate to each other. The core subject of Mathematics is a compulsory part of the National Curriculum from KS1 to KS4 (GCSE). Understanding number and mathematical logic is vital if looking to pass the 11 plus exam, their final secondary exams and succeed much later in life. From division, multiplication and fractions to algebra, trigonometry and cumulative frequency, our assessments identify and point out what a child needs further work on.

Help with Maths at Kip McGrath Guisely Education Centre

Our assessments are planned and administered depending on the age and current Key Stage level of the child. Children between the ages of 6 and 11 cover basic numeracy, which includes times tables, fractions, approximation, rounding up and reading graphs. We also assign regular mental arithmetic exercises every lesson for those children that need it. For students that are Keystage 3 or GCSE level, we produce personalised maths programmes for each student to work from. For children preparing to take the 11 Plus exam, our mathematic programmes cover mathematical elements up to Keystage 2. Mental arithmetic is a compulsory part of the programme and Nonverbal Reasoning (which is included as a part of mathematics) is also included if it is to be taken for their examination. If you would like more information on maths tuition for your child or a free assessment to benchmark the progress that your child is making then do get in touch.

Your child will improve if they are supported at school, home and at Kip McGrath. Every child that attends tutoring each week and does all of their set homework will improve - both academically and in self confidence.

Every child is different and every problem is different. After the initial assessment, we will be able to provide an indication of how long tutoring may be required and your child's progress is monitored regularly by continuous assessment and we will also provide regular parental feedback. There is no obligation or contract to attend for any period of time. If, for whatever reason (e.g. change of financial circumstances), you decide you are no longer able to attend, all we ask is a weeks notice.

Homework is an essential part of the Kip McGrath programme, particularly for Reading students. We are aware of each student's school workload so set homework is generally limited to around half an hour each week. If you have difficulty getting your child to complete the homework, please contact us immediately.

If a child is struggling with homework or showing signs of not enjoying school work, a parent will normally
pick up on this. Do not wait until parent’s night but contact the teacher, express your concerns and ask at
what level your child is performing in class. If the situation is not resolved, then perhaps a little extra tuition
may be required.

We offer a free student assessment, which will determine the level at which your child is currently at. We can then advise as to the most appropriate course of action to benefit each student. After assessing a child we sometimes find that they are at the correct level for their age. Some parents wish for their child to remain at the top of the learning curve assisted by the Kip McGrath programme. There are no catches and no hard sell; we make the recommendations and you choose what you feel is appropriate for your child.
