We help students primarily in the areas of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Comprehension, English and Maths - from Primary to Secondary. We also offer tuition to help prepare your child for exams such as the Grammar School Entrance tests (AQE and GL assessment), end of year exams and GCSE English and Maths.
Whilst some parents visit our Guisley office looking for extra help with specific areas of day to day schooling the majority are interested in helping their children attain higher grades in exams.
We do exam preparation for the Grammar School Entrance tests, end of year exams and GCSE Maths and English. It is important that you contact us well before the exams to give your child the best chance of success.
Your child will improve if they are supported at school, home and at Kip McGrath. Every child that attends tutoring each week and does all of their set homework will improve - both academically and in self confidence.
Every child is different and every problem is different. After the initial assessment, we will be able to provide an indication of how long tutoring may be required and your child's progress is monitored regularly by continuous assessment and we will also provide regular parental feedback. There is no obligation or contract to attend for any period of time. If, for whatever reason (e.g. change of financial circumstances), you decide you are no longer able to attend, all we ask is a weeks notice.
All tutoring is done within our Centre in Guiseley. This enables us to provide the best facilities and teaching resources to meet the needs of your child.
Lessons are 80 minutes long and students usually attend for one lesson a week. Some older children do attend more often, according to their needs. Even young children attend for 80 minutes - their lessons are broken up into short activities, designed to keep them keen and interested.
There are a variety of lesson times available after school from Monday to Friday and Saturday morning.
Lesson times are:
Monday 4pm - 7pm
Tuesday 4pm - 7pm
Wednesday 4pm - 7pm
Thursday 4pm - 7pm
Friday - Closed
Saturday morning only
Please call or phone us if you need assistance out of teaching hours. All our details are on our contact page or at the foot of this page
Make sure that they attend their tutoring sessions each week and complete the homework task - regularity is a major key to improving your child's results. Always let the tutor know if you have any concerns about the progress of your child or the type of work that they are doing.
Each session lasts for 80 minutes and discounts are available for block bookings. Our prices are highly competitive and tuition is of high quality.

Homework is an essential part of the Kip McGrath programme, particularly for Reading students. We are aware of each student's school workload so set homework is generally limited to around half an hour each week. If you have difficulty getting your child to complete the homework, please contact us immediately.
Kip McGrath Tutors are fully qualified teachers and have been trained further in using the Kip McGrath tutoring system.. Moreover, their skills & enthusiasm enable effective tutoring. Each teacher has a valid certificate from the Criminal Records Bureau. In today's society, where private tuition is currently unregulated by government/DfES, you can rest assured that your child is receiving the very best in professional tuition at Kip McGrath.
The main reason students attend Kip McGrath is to achieve improved school results.
We successfully raise the achievements of students because:
• They are closely linked to educational needs and our professional teachers are aware of school requirements.
• They are designed to give students the motivation and increased confidence to succeed.
• We develop an individually tailored programme for each child, based on what we discover during a thorough assessment. It may introduce new content, revise what he or she has covered in school, or extend a child who is already achieving.
The programme will be constantly modified as new education needs arise.
• We emphasise the positive aspects and achievements of every student, so failure is eliminated.
Almost all our students make significantly better progress at school, resulting in: an improved class position, better SATs results at the end of key stages, passing school entrance exams, or higher than predicted grades in GCSE.
An education centre provides the correct environment in which students can best study. The children also benefit from the presence of other students in a warm and friendly atmosphere, not feeling intimidated or restricted by large classes at school. Moreover, each centre lacks the distractions of a family home. Furthermore, the children love coming to the centre and for some children it’s the highlight of the week!
If a child is struggling with homework or showing signs of not enjoying school work, a parent will normally
pick up on this. Do not wait until parent’s night but contact the teacher, express your concerns and ask at
what level your child is performing in class. If the situation is not resolved, then perhaps a little extra tuition
may be required.
We offer a free student assessment, which will determine the level at which your child is currently at. We can then advise as to the most appropriate course of action to benefit each student. After assessing a child we sometimes find that they are at the correct level for their age. Some parents wish for their child to remain at the top of the learning curve assisted by the Kip McGrath programme. There are no catches and no hard sell; we make the recommendations and you choose what you feel is appropriate for your child.
